Dad has had Rattle snake as well. Same goes for my neighbor Tom up on the mountain. When he was brush hoging my property he came across two rattle snake females... both were full of eggs.

when I asked him what he did with them... He grinned "I have em marinating in Teriyaki"... didn't invite me over for dinner though.... LOL. I guess I will have to kill one of my own. I don't like to though because they are beneficial... but If they are standing their ground and rearing back to strike I strike first. Apparently its finger food because of all the little rib bones...

He skins his out and makes hat bands out of them. Of course tanning the hide first.

Yes, all snakes have a lot of those rib bone's. I had to kill a gopher snake because it was getting into my grow out pen and ate 2 chick's. I let it go the first time, but it came back and grabbed the second one. That was all it was going to get. No more chicken dinner for it.

I've never had bear meat before, but when my dad was still alive he had told me that he tried it once. He said that the bear meat tasted greasy. Maybe it was just the way that the people cooked it?
That could be, because bear is a very lean meat.

Seems like those who had it or know someone who has say it was greasy. That's strange as I have never had greasy bear before. I wonder if it has anything to do with what type of bear or where the bear came from?

My bear meat did not taste greasy but I removed as much of the fat as I could. I rendered the fat and used it for boot waterproofing.
