Canning and Home preserving

thanks everyone I been thinking and planning since I bought the place in 2003... so I have had seventeen years to digest and regurgitate and digest again. Now I will have the wherewithal to accomplish it. Its coming together...

The work I have had done on this house taught me to do a little contracting. and KNOW when to not try it myself...

Major things to accomplish:

Getting the rewire done so my house wont burn down.
Getting the drive re graded and set up to push water off to the side so it doesnt make gully's down the middle or across the road.
Get my stuff moved in and placed in the necessary rooms.

Then the real work begins...

I learned how to prioritize work in one of my last jobs. You work by brain storming placing post it notes at random.... Then you go through those and determine if one is the result of the other... and prioritise the first.

And Keep in mind EVERYThING is negotiable. S@#$ happens and you deal with it and worry about whittling off something else later.

Up in my neighborhood getting good workers is difficult. I have a good connection to an Electrical contractor working for a licensed company thats been in business for 40 years. Family owned... He did good by me when MY power lines needed work... could have gouged me but didnt. He gave me a quote for the house back then I wont quibble when his next quote will come in higher... Its the times. He will come up and do the work without charging me for the extra time and gas to drive out so far....

the rest will fall in place as it needs to...

Deb, I like the modular shelving you're planning, had not seen that type before. I'm sure you've thought of this but it bears reminding, anyone planning to install free-standing shelving, be sure to anchor it to the walls in the interest of safety, in case you have guests with small children tempted to climb.

@perchie.girl It look's like you have a lot of work to do on that place to get it to the way that you are planning. I hope that you will succeed in your plan's and project.
Yep... I hope so.. I learned early on when doing art finish it before you quit for the day or night... Incase you never come back.

I have alot of land and not so much house... any thing I do will be for my comfort and my safety... there is no resale value on the house... When I bought the place I bought raw land. And a well. Never mind there was a one bedroom one bath house on it.

Its high desert at about 3000 feet. so we get snow and between nine and twelve inches of rain per year

house and corral.JPG

The big white square is my horse shelter the surrounding white lines is the corral fence... the black smudge next to the shelter is my horse... Picked up on satellite... shes a big girl....
house is in blue and the surrounding white line is the area I want refenced for Goats and chickens

The corner where the house fence meets the horse corral fence will have another white square straddling it... That will be the poultry house 24x24 anotther fence will run paralell with the horse fence to connect to the back fence... poulrty Run.
this photo represents about three acres... the white fencing represents about an acre. I own nineteen acres.

All the trees and chaparal you see here are never watered. They live off what they can gather on their own. Its by no means desolate and stark... Matter of fact from the rain we have alreaty gotten the whole mountain should be awash with green purple and white flowers...
