Well found a good home for it.. we have these two open cupboards into the eating area
top is like 18 tall also keep a small drawer set there for plastic silverware and such all fits as the bottom is just 15 inches tall
 
I just read this in the manual. Not sure how I missed it:
Discoloration of the aluminium inside from hard water minerals is harmless. It can be removed by boiling a solutiin of 1 tbs vinegar or 2 tbs cream of tartar in a quart of water
Yep, I was just going to let you know what you already found out lol. My disk has never returned to it's shinyness ( is that a word) lol. Our water is quite hard so I just figure it is what it is.

Yea ours is too. I cant imagine what it would be like without our water softener...maybe itd just be rocks:lol:
 
as you can tell my bottom is colored same as yours so not to worry there but not recommended to run empty
As far as not running it empty the owners manual recommends you do so to make sure the dial is calibrated correctly with the pressure regulator. It also recommends running it empty on the first use to familiarise yourself and your cooktop
