Yeah, I hatch quite a few, myself. So far I have only managed to re-home the roos since it takes awhile to KNOW sometimes!!!! I am aware they are probably ending up on someone's table....just can't be mine if I have named them!!!! LOL

Cool, chic-n-farmer!!!! Aren't babies soooooo exciting!!!!! I am just jumping up and down!!!!!

LOL VERY glad I am not the only one!!!! I told my husband one day, if we are ever starving I could hunt, raise meat birds, whatever, but NOT my pet chickens. I would chop off body parts to feed them if necessary!!!! LOL Hopefully it never comes to that!!!!

That is too funny!

I had to cull my Splash Orp. girl back before Christmas, due to the Coryza issue I had this past summer and it was the most awful thing I've had to do yet. My husband told me at that point that he doesn't buy the line that I feed him about my chickens be food storage. He said that after that incident with my splash, he now knows my whole family would starve before we ate one of my chickens!

I am starting to get soooooooooo excited!!!!! My babies are scheduled to ship on the 11th. I was so afraid we wouldn't have power back on before the ship date and I would have had to cancel my order. Thankfully it came back today. I know some people close to me are still looking at having thier power off for weeks.

I too ordered chicks ...from Cackle Hatchery....the minimum of 25 , due in April.....So....when you'a ll refer to ''packin peanuts'' you are not talkin about the little round styrofoam pieces?? You are talkin actual extra chicks?? !!
OHHHHH ....sheeeeesh.........and all this time I wondered how do they keep those little chicks from eating that styrofoam!!!!
DUH....

I have a lot to learn, huh??

LOL......oh, we all have lots to learn.

Trust me, if there is styrofoam within a 100 mile radius, your chickens WILL find it and they WILL eat it. Seems to be a favorite treat!!!!

Not really sure why I went to the trouble of ordering from someone who doesn't have a 25 chick minimum (except they also had exactly what I NEEDED). If I have to pay a "small order fee" and a "partial box fee" (I think that is what it was called) because there are less than 25 and then they throw in enough unwanted male chicks to make 25....well, seems to me I just bought 25 chickies. *sigh* However, it will be easier to get rid of chickens I didn't deliberately order.
