Hey Y'all,
I have hatched many batches of eggs over the years but i am currently hatching my first pair of Ameraucana eggs. I just got a new rooster who is an Ameraucana and i already have an Ameraucana hen so i figured why not hatch some little chicks! Anyways, today is day Eight and i brought the eggs in to look inside of them but i cants see much. i know there is growth and the air cells look great but i cant see that much. I'm not sure if my flashlight isn't bright enough or if the egg shell is too thick. Ive had this happen in the past but didn't care to much as i was hatching in larger quantities. Now that im only hatching Two eggs i want to be able to monitor them but cant. Any solutions? Oh and they are being hatched by a broody hen not the incubator!

Thank You!

Given that you're emotionally invested in this pair of cuties I would spring for one of those really great flashlights used by campers/hunters/hikers.

Something like this with a high lumen count?

Hopefully a few more days and it will be clearer but if not it might be worth the splurge? I'm sure you'll find tons of uses for it beyond this one hatch!

Best of luck, I'll be hoping for good views and two perfectly gorgeous babies!:love:jumpy

I just bought a candling lamp from Brinsea that I haven't tried yet (because I was having a difficult time candling my brown eggs in the 'bator too) so I'll let you know how well it works, it was only $34 so if it's something I'm gonna use regularly that's not too shabby. I plan on candling them again tonight now that I have the proper tool. :)
