I think I posted in the wrong forum about my chicken, Lark (put the thread into Chicken Behavior instead). I wanted to get some advice on her feeling quite sick.
She's exhibiting depression; drooping wings; barely any movement, and if there is movement, just a slow walk to get to the feed or to the other chickens; laborous, heavy breathing with and without an open beak (so I know there is no nose obstruction); lethargy. Of the one and only time I've seen her pooping, it came out as sort of liquidy and yet half solid. Looked kind of black with some green in it. I tried to check her crop, but I feel absolutely nothing and she's so skinny and bony under her fluffy feathers. This is what she looks like. Just isolated her today.
We at first thought it was coccidiosis, so we treated her and the other 5 chicks with Corid for about 1.5 weeks. That did help a bit. Before Corid, she would not move or speak. After that treatment period, she complains or chirps when you pick her up, and she does move around a bit, but not much.
I'm now moving on to other illnesses that could be affecting her. I am stuck between chicken chlamydia or enteritis. Both seems to explain the same symptoms, so I'm not sure what to do. That means I either need Doxycylcine or Amoxycillin. How do I figure out which is which? Could it be a gape worm?
I'm at a loss. What else could be possibly causing Lark to behave like this?
