Is any body around the Milwaukee, Green Bay area that raises chickens?

I have been trying to find DE at food mills and I can only find the kind you use for pools.

Got any places to check out? I just hate paying for shipping on something like that.

Worse comes to worse... check out Ebay. You can buy it in 50# or less... depending on how much you need. Browse ALL the listings.. some may be less than others... just type in Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth... they have plenty!

Call and see if your feed store carries "Stall-Dri" (sp?)....I asked for DE and they said they didn't have it, but they suggested StallDri and when I read the bag I discovered that it is DE....

I got online and did a search for a representative close by. The closest one lives in another town about 65 miles away. She met me half way with the DE. They deliver to a lot of dairies over here in my neck of the woods (or no-woods). Check around any cow lots or dairies.

google custum milling or Golden Blend group. see if there is an exotic food supplier like emos, or ostriches or birds like that, as call them to see if they DE. Thats how I found mine He sold it at the local flea market, so I didn't have to pay shipping charges. $20.00 for 50 lbs. Try that marrie

I guess I would like someone smarter than me to chime in about the use of Stall-Dri in areas where chickens can ingest it. I have looked at the bag and it does say to avoid food so I would assume it isn't the best thing to ingest. Typically it is food grade DE that is recommended for use with chickens. I'm not sure if Stall-Dri is the same as food grade DE.

I was concerned about the same thing, BrassMaster. I actually called the company because I didn't see any warnings on the bag, and asked them about my chickens or kids eating it. They laughed and said I didn't have to worry about it, StallDri is 100% non toxic. I was like, okay, so if my kid eats some of it what do I do?? They said nothing, just give them some water because DE absorbs liquid. I was mainly concerned about the scent they put in it, but they said I didn't have to worry about that either. I called twice and spoke with 2 different reps, and both said the same thing. I'm not sure if the brand I'm talking about is actually StallDri, I know it's Stall-something....but it comes in a white bag with block lettering and there's a pic of a chicken on the bag. Let me see if I can find the site.....
