Crowing
The best advice I was ever given on this, and it’s what I do currently because I have 1 year old layers mixed with 16 wk old pullets, is to put the chick food/grower finisher food out only and provide oyster shells on the side for the older ones. I have used this method now for weeks and the egg production from my older girls has not changed nor has the quality of their shells. I used to get up early, try and separate them 5 times a day to let the little ones have alone time with their own food but that’s very time consuming. This method is working just perfectly fine and as promised, the pullets don’t eat the oyster shells.
