Can't Machine Quilt...Why Does Machine Skip?

When I was in Wyoming, the quilt shop in Laramie had an overload of cowboy fabric. Just about any color combination you can imagine. So all I can say is "location, location, location" ... :)

I like both of your new quilts. I believe the dark blue border material will bring that second one together.

Thanks for stopping in! I agree it would be natural to find cowboy fabrics out west more than here. I'm putting on some dark blue now, just a solid since it's so busy. I think that will "calm" it and bring it together, then the quilting will make it all sing like a cowboy round the campfire. At least, that's what I hope, lol.

Did you ever finish that quilt you got from me for your porch swing?

I decided to tweak my craft room and sewing machine table set up. After looking at ridiculously priced craft tables online, mostly particleboard cheaply made stuff, DH remembered he had just one more table in the basement. Yeah, that "one more table" was a drafting table with side organizing tray we bought many years ago, PERFECT for my cutting table! So, I moved the machine to the end of the dining table so quilts in progress would be up on the table behind the machine and up against the wall to the left of me, not falling off and pulling at the quilting area. This should work much better though my future Juki machine is larger than this little Brother. The sewing stool with storage was my mother's-you should see those old Butterick patterns in there, LOL!

I'll probably be moving my platform rocker back into the livingroom. We are trying to sell the big solid wood rocking chair we bought to rock our first baby in 1977 so there will be a space. We paid $75 way back then, at KMart, of all places, and it is solid wood, seat is 2" thick, and still in very good condition. Some young mother will get good use out of it, I hope.

The rocker that rocked my now 38 year old son. They sell rockers for $75 now, but they're spindly, unstable things, some even made with particleboard, ick. This can be refinished, though we never have. It's moved all over the country with us and held up great. Asking just $30, which I think is fair for what it is, don't you?

You never know what goodies are hiding in those basements!!! Very nice!
I think that's a fair price for the rocker.

Yup, the rocker is already sold pending pickup, took about an hour after posting it. Lady had one she says just like it she bought in 1976 and lost it somehow. Now, her daughter is having a baby and she wants it for her; in fact, her daughter tagged her in the FB yard sale ad to show her, so she's coming to get it tomorrow. It was the first thing we bought with cash of that HUGE amount (we only made about $300/mo in the Air Force at the time).

My mom had that same rocker! My sister ended up with it, but I got the rocker that my step-mom had. I had it refinished - it was a really dark stain and I had it stained a lighter brown. It is so beautiful now, and my mom didn't even recognize it first time she saw it.

@speckledhen I haven't gotten to it yet, lol! Everytime I think I am going to be able to work on it, DH comes up with a project that needs doing instead. I will have it done by next summer though!

That rocker was made to last, wasn't it? The lady picked it up today and I knew her! She was the nurse in my favorite doctor's office. Small world. Sadly, just as they were leaving, I found Isaac had passed away in his pen. He had been free ranging just before they got here. There is a thread in Pictures about it. I was working on a lap quilt, just now finished the quilting on it but I have a headache so the binding will have to wait until another day.

Stay tuned...my new machine will be shipped on Tuesday! It's gently used, comes with the original stuff, got it for about half the price of the same currently-selling model new, plus UPS shipping. FINALLY! And we're getting a new barn built, too, so work on the pad for it will be done either tomorrow or Tuesday. Life is good !
