So one of my roosters has just come off from being sick. He's very interested in food now, (I had to hand feed him before as he wouldn't even touch it) but the problem is it seems he can't open his mouth to eat. I've only seen him drink once on his own, but when I bring him food he'll get really excited and get his face really close to it and move his face down like he's trying to peck, but it seems like he can't. I'm at a loss. I've never had anything like this before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd greatly appreciate any help or ideas you guys have! He's lost alot of weight.... not even half the size of when he first got sick.

Check his ears to see if maybe he has an ear infection. I had a Pullet last fall that couldn’t open her mouth much at all even when I physically tried to open it. She ended up having an ear infection in both ears. She still can’t open her mouth but about 25% but her ear infection is gone and she’s able to eat and drink and it doesn’t hinder her.

Thank you so much! What did you do for her?

Once I realized that’s what was going on I got as much of the junk out that, would put a few drops of peroxide in her ear and pack it with neosporin. We did this daily until it cleared. I tried amoxicillin early on but it had no affect. You have to remove all the puss.
I will try that. Thanks!
