I have all of my new chicken family together. See my signature, a little of this and a little of that.

Now that they are growing, the Rhode Island Reds and the Red Sex Link pullets look the same to me. What should I look for to tell them apart?

Thanks, Kathy

red sex links have white under feathers and RIR don't but I don't know if they are feathered enough for you to tell that. How old are they exactly?

Red sexlinks will have white feathers under their wings and sometimes they have white feathers on their tail also. A RIR is a nice solid red color sometimes with black

I think they'd both have yellow feet. Yes- once they start feathering the Reds should have NO white in the feathers. When they're babies- the bellies can be light creamy color- but that is just down- not feathers.

RIR's should be much darker in color, and instead of having white feathers a RIR will have black at the tips of its tail feathers. The green sheen on the feathers should be easily seen on the RIR's. I just noticed the age of your chicks in your signature. It may be difficult to tell the difference between them until the feather out, as the RIR's can be very light until then.
