Can't wait to start hatching soon! Anyone else with 10/14 hatch day?

I candled again tonight with new batteries in my super high led and feel better about the eggs. I could see better definition so I have more confidence they are developing fine.

Going to candle again tonight - see how everyone's doing. Hoping they are still developing okay. The kids were worried when we got rid of so many eggs last candle - but I assured them that was okay. Getting ready to give away 3 roos from our 1st hatch next Friday - I will miss my little White Leghorn boys. That will be hard, but necessary as we only have a small yard and flock.

I candled mine tonight and had a couple questionables??? will hold off till the 14th to decide to toss them because i cant see all that well as they are dark shells.....but my concern is that from the chart on air sac at 7 days the charts egg has a lot more space than mine...and i have been doing what i would call a dry hatch with about 30%-35% humidity....i am going to lower it below 30 and see how the air space's look next week...happy hatching:jumpy

I go into lockdown tomorrow and I have more eggs due to hatch on Oct. 18th so they will go into lockdown on the 15th.

I candled most of them last night and they look like they are developing - a few are still questionable - but no one is stinking or quitting at this point. Since they are light brown eggs and not completely easy to see into I'm leaving everyone until hatch. It's better to err on the side of caution for me. So still have 9 orpingtons and 12 silkies.

It's Friday and Day 14 - just one more week till new chicks!

Got three eggs so far. TOmorrow is day 14 so we'll see how they look then. I discovered that my hygrometers were way out and that was why the air cells were not growing as they should! One hygrometer was 9% out and the other was 12% out! So I dropped the humidity and it started looking better. Then last night the humidity dropped way low because I forgot to check the water. Hopefully it will even out overall.

Got a little dilemma going on. I threw 6 eggs from a local dog parlour into the 'bator, 'cos I was afraid we may only get one chick. ANyway, I have no idea how old these eggs were, how long they have been refrigerated, or what breeds either. I have two developing! So now I am not sure what to do! I may just wait and see how they go, we only have bantams and a small coop... wondering what breeds, would they get on with my mild mannered bantams or would they beat them up. Maybe I should find out if someone local would take them and otherwise take them out of the 'bator... that feels weird...

That does sound interesting - hope you find a solution. I think standard breeds and bantams can get along fine. I'll be testing out that theory after this batch of eggs hatch

Can't believe that Tuesday will be lockdown already! Where has the time gone!
