Cape Cod Chicken Wrangler

Hey there Sharon- I am writing you from Centerville. I had to post regarding your slug problem with your squash because I can feel the pain with that. It s something in this Cape soil I guess! I am taking this great course at the Barnstable Fair Grounds on backyard farming etc. and it has been so interesting. Every week is a new topic and I feel its a great reference for local gardening questions because they have expert speakers each week on the topic of the week. Like last week was all about soil. But there is a question time and you can meet fellow gardeners and get some great tips. Could help with the book too. Good luck with all, and post pictures of your Guinnies if you get them.

ps. Our #1 predator right now is the Red Tailed hawk- have you noticed these bandits from above?

Welcome to BYC from California wine country in the Western Sierra Foothills!

While my flock is very mixed - I like variety - I am very fond of Barred Rocks. They have the sweetest personalities. If I was on my computer instead of this iPad, I'd post some photos of my favorite girl... I have two BRs, Belinda and Beth, in a flock of fifty hens, three roosters, 23 ducks, four turkeys and two geese. And 24 eggs in the incubator (Speckled Sussex and a variety of different colored Orpington eggs).

Tonya,
I live in Centerville too! I have 9 Red Star hens which need to go asap. They are not getting along with my ducks. They are all about a year old and laying regularly and are healthy. Would you be interested in getting any more chickens? I am selling them for $12 each and they need to be gone this week. Please let me know!
Schylie
