Capon gasping and seizures

He is only slightly puffy around his surgery wound, but its only air under the skin.
I massaged his crop, it feels soft and squishy but sorta like a slightly inflated balloon.
I poked a hole in the skin where it was collecting air, he started breathing normal and even started chirping again. As soon as i sat his up, he started gasping again.
I would say possibly shock, but if you found air under the skin, released that and he started breathing normal for a bit. I would agree with @MysteryChicken it sounds like a ruptured air sac.
Hopefully it will seal and heal without any more problems.

Thank you for all your help, but he passed away last night. He had like 3 or 4 violent seizures and then just stopped breathing 😢. I am gonna give the others electrolytes in their waterer in case it was shock! I dont want to loose anymore

you wont believe it, but just found another dead. No sign of injury. this one didn't even have air under the skin. his crop feels empty. I just checked them less than 4 hours ago and everyone was running around fine. This boy was 100% RIR (did have the same dad, different mom tho).

i am worried their is some disease at this point. the alive ones aren't sneezy or gasping or acting weird at all tho. I am going to do an armature necropsy to see if anything looks weird.

All i can think that was different with this batch of Capons is they came out of the brooder house only 2 days before their surgery, and i usually wait a week outside before they get the surgery. Maybe a change in environment along with the caponization put them into shock 3 days later? IDK. :idunno

An amateur necropsy is always worth doing. There's always a chance you'll stumble onto the reason for the deaths. Caponizing is not risk free, we all know. But it seems you know what you're doing. Chances are there was some underlying issue, genetic perhaps.

I just necropsied both the one from last night and the one from today. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. there was no blood clots near the incision and the muscle was already starting to heal. the organs looked good (at least to my eye lol). No sign of worms or mites. Only thing i noticed was both hearts had very large clots. not sure if that's the blood clotting up because they died or if it was the cause of death. either way, I'll be sure to give electrolytes before and after surgery and not change their environment around the time of surgery in the future :(. These are the first I've lost like this and it makes me really sad, I want to avoid any future reoccurrences.
