This is a great visual aid for me, thank you!
Now I hope my description is enough for you to help me a little more...picture a chicken's drumstick, it's broken about an inch above the bottom of his drumstick....middle femur, maybe? What would be best for that?

Not much, but it didn't get worse!

In his "spa"...legs soaking in epsom salt and some iodine before getting slathered with Neem oil and some antibiotic ointment....he's soooo relaxed

New splint, "less is more" method...wrapped on top and then on the bottom, either side of the break, and then his super fantastic leg warmers...LOL Just lightly wrapped some gauze pads over the ointment and again, LIGHTLY wrapped some self sticking wrap over the gauze....but he looks so totally 80's and ready to Flashdance!

It just occurred to me that he could probably benefit from having a sling...maybe a strip around the broken leg, under the closest wing, over his back and under his other wing...to help keep it from flopping around when he moves.
Any thoughts?

probably better to secure a popsicle splint to it...or just leave it as is. You don't want to keep re-aranging it, or accidentally set it at an un-natural angle...you want it to set so he can use it when it heals. If you are careful about how you strap it to his body, it may be benificial, but at this stage of the game, there is bound to be some healing going on in that bone...you don't want to manipulate it too much.

Could you make him a sling over the basket he is in and set him in it so he can straighten his leg down instead of sitting on it maybe? Kind of like Johnny Jumper, without the jump?
