Oh but it's not (healing, I still felt it move)

With the first attempt being rather hurried and in a panic, I re-did it, then with his foot being swollen last night, I re-did it and again today....I know I totally suck

but I think this one could be good if I do just kind of secure it to his body so when he hops around it's not bouncing all over...maybe?

can you remind me again where it is broken? I may be able to help you figure out a way to secure it so it may heal. I am going to PM you...maybe I can explain better what I am talking about...

Guessed it earlier about an inch from the bottom of his "drumstick" (femur?)....but it's actually right about the middle of that bone. And what I have securing it is a large popsicle stick, cut in half, half on either side wrapped with the self sticking wrap

check your PMs. I will try to get you some pictures of what I am discribing tomorrow. You need to get that bone to start growing back together...you leave it too long, and it may not heal. Antibiotics are crucial for a broken bone, and birds with broken bones are especially vulnerable.

Thank you for this, but I'm thinking more like what an arm sling looks like for a human, but picture the leg up by the wing of a chicken....I'll try it in the morning and post pics

You are getting alot of good advice here and you are doing a great job. Animals don't cooperate (can't stay off the leg) which makes things much more difficult. I agree that antibiotics are crucial here. And once you have that break immobilized you need to leave it alone and not unwrap it until the bone heals which means the scaly leg mites and soaks should probably wait til it heals.
This guy has had a tough time but he sure found the right friend in you.

I agree, broken leg first, scaly leg mites second. I like the sling in the basket posted above. He might not like being immobilized, but what doesn't kill him, makes him stronger. Put some chicken videos on for him.
