I do think he's just coming out of a molt...new little feathers popping out all over and the "chicken dandruff" was something I just learned about...
I'd seen the little "paint brush" looking feathers popping out on my girls this fall, but never really got a chance to see them up close...
I think it's pretty cool how they come in through little straw type coverings...
And with all of his preening in the last couple of days, I've been sweeping around his basket several times a day as he sheds the little "plastic" looking feather shafts...
I'm working on getting the dog crate cleaned up and bring it into the house for him, because you're right, I need to worry a little less about his Super Rooster abilities and he needs a more secure space...
His beak was only broken on the one side on the bottom and like you saw, it's healing up amazingly...on his top beak, it's cracked nearly all the way across but luckily not all the way through...and maybe with the patch I put on it'll hold til it grows out some more and he can wear it down naturally
He has had a pretty fantastic transformation...thanks for noticing. Maybe 'Backyard Poultry' would be interested in his story?...lol And I think he's cute enough for his own clothing line
LOL
And I'm glad the pics come through clearly, and that we can ALL learn something from Lucky....I'm so thrilled with the response I've gotten and the help I've received....the first thing I knew to do was to just get him dry and warm, seemingly obvious, but I wouldn't have known anything about chickens if it weren't for the BYC peeps and forum....You all ROCK!!!
