LOL! One of your other roosters is going to have to explain to Lucky that, once he's in with the flock, he has to put the girls first and offer them the goodies to eat before eating himself!!!

Lucky J continues to look better and better. Although I bet Lucky J would love to have his splint off, it wouldn't hurt to give him a little extra time with the splint after all the work and love you have put into helping him heal.

By the way, I have a few Old English Games (definitely not show quality) who have some feathering on their legs, but the feathers are not nearly as full as those on my Cochins' legs.

Okay...so this is the third day I've let Lucky out with the general population

First day was for about 10 minutes til one hen pecked him and he had a spot of blood on his comb, back into the cage for his own safety...day two didn't go so well, even though I threw a bunch of sunflower seeds and scratch to keep everyone distracted, on of my little bantam roos noticed Lucky and went into attack mode

I swatted the mean little guy away but then the other banty roos saw what was happening and all started to gang up on Lucky...mind you, Lucky did an awesome job of defending himself, walking, running and jumping like there was no leg problem at all, but I of course didn't want to encourage this behavior...caged Lucky again, for his safety...first I snuggled him a little til his hearbeat slowed down some...and then I captured the aggressive little roosters and put them all in a cage and have now listed them on Craigslist...the two bantam Cochin boys I have don't seem to show any interest in Lucky and just as long as it stays that way, they can stay too. Now today, I again threw a bunch of scratch to distract everyone, and no sign of aggression from anyone...fingers crossed

it stays that way, because Lucky is really liking this new found freedom

Woo hoo!!! Sounds like third time's the charm, and that's GREAT news about the leg. Keeping fingers crossed that everyone's settled down and Lucky's free from the cage at last!
