So glad to see the progress lucky has made. The leg seems to be doing good, and from the video he appears to be a "Good" rooster. Thanks for the updates, like others I've read and followed the entire thread and it's a heartwarming story. Lucky was meant to be with You and your hens.

The banty roo was just standing his ground. He didn't seem any more vicious towards Lucky than Lucky was towards him. Did you have any attachment to them before Lucky came around?

Before I recorded this there was 6 of the little buggers going after Lucky...I shooed them all away and Lucky was by himself and this little bugger came back for him...It's not that I wasn't "attatched" it's just that they were kind of flighty and I never had a close bond with them...They went to a good home today, so I don't feel bad about it. Lucky's doing really great today despite how cold it is again...heading out with some warm treats again for everyone

How many did you get rid of again? You had 7 bantam roos, right? Wow, doesn't look like you have 75 chickens! :lol

3 things...

1 if I was a hen I would marry lucky!
love.gif

2 if I ever have a sick chicken I am coming to your house lol
3 where can I get a hen that looks like lucky?

I Admire you I wish I was brave like you!

I think it was suggested that Lucky is an Old English Game...though I haven't looked at what the hens look like, I'm guessing they're beautiful too...I don't know if I've ever seen an ugly chicken...even my Turkens are so goofy looking they're cute
wink.png

And I guess my "chicken math" was a little off, aoxa,lol...I tried to do a head count today and after rehoming the six banty brahma roos, I have approximately 63 chickens and that's including two banty cochin roos and of course Lucky

Over the course of the summer I did sell 10 of my older girls and lost 2 to my father inlaw's horrible driving (seriously, how can I get his license revoked before it's one of the kids "he doesn't see"...it's because he drives like a bat out of hell around here...grrr

) Anywho...back on a lighter note, Lucky was up on the top roost again today, I walked in on him standing on the top rung of the nesting box and so I turned on my video camera...waited ever so patiently while I watched him, look up at the perch, squat like he's getting ready to jump, look up, squat, catch his balance, look up, squat....for quite awhile til I had to go throw straw down into the barn before milking...and of course once I got done with that chore I went and looked in and he was up there...he just didn't want me to watch apparently
wink.png
LOL I did, however, take him down again and put him into his "bedroom"...still just so worried what would happen when he tries to jump down

Go Lucky. I watched the video and he certainly can hold his own. I'm so so happy to see that he is being accepted. I have absolutely fallen in love with him. Let me know when you get those cups, t-shirts, magnets etc going. I want to buy some.

Oh and you should be on there too. You are his angel.

Lucky just keeps getting more and more lucky - the hens love him and he doesn't have to stand up to banty roos any more! I'm glad you found a good home for the banty roos. The hens didn't seem phased by the sparring as seen in the video, but I am sure it helps your peace of mind knowing he wont hurt his leg hopping over banty roos.

Thanks for the updates.

Keep it up! What a sweet rooster. Even when arguing with the other roo, he let your little boy pet him
