Raven watched him and moved closer to Maple to keep her away from the bandit. She looked to the tunnel entrance where the others had gone and saw the pair going after Pike. She frowned and dropped to one knee to put her dagger away even as she pulled her bow out. She grabbed an arrow and set it, drawing the line back and releasing then setting another to fire at the second bandit.

The two men turned quickly at Pike's voice, one brandishing his torch in the caravan guard's direction while the other set his shield defensively. They looked at Pike, then past him, as if expecting to see more guards behind, but seeing none, they exchanged a quick glance and advanced toward Pike.

Meanwhile, the lone bandit trying to take on both Raven and Linden wasn't faring so well. Too late he saw Linden coming and wasn't able to turn in time. The blade torn across the back of his left leg and he stumbled forward, landing on his shield. Even in the dim light of the torch lying on the ground, threatening to go out, fear showed on the man's face as he realized his situation had just become dire. "Don't! Please!" he pleaded for his life.

Pike took a couple of steps backwards away from the bandits, silently rebuking himself for calling out so boldly. Not that being quiet would have stopped them from coming, but now he felt like cocky idiot who was going to get his butt kicked. He stopped after about three feet, realizing that he couldn't keep backing up forever... eventually he'd run into another bandit and then the odds would really be against him. His only remaining weapon was the battle club, and in his haste to find the light stone he had neglected to grab any weapon from Col to assist him. There wasn't any time to do that now. He raised the club with his right hand and waited for them to draw nearer.

With the sword raised in striking position, Linden hesitated just he began the downward stroke to finish the bandit off. The man's cry for his life made him stop. He wasn't a killer... what was he thinking? Before the blade could touch the bandit he stopped his arm, and contemplated for a moment what to do next. If he didn't kill the bandit, he would shout for help and bring more reinforcements before the guards could reach safety. He decided to settle for the same thing as Pike, and brought the blunt edge of the handle down on the man's forehead instead to knock him unconscious. In a couple hours--if he didn't bleed to death first-- the man would waken. By that time, hopefully, they would have made it back to the wagons with Mavis and Maple.

Pike and the bandits approaching him were, by now, almost back to the point where the tunnel split, so the elf's shot had to navigate the long tunnel. "Son of a.... " the shot grazed the upper arm of the shield carrying bandit. It was good motivation for them to hurry up and get on with their immediate goal to dispatch Pike. The torchbearer lunged forward, shoving the flame toward Pike's face, trying to temporarily blind him while the one with the shield tried to simply shield bash the caravan guard.

Raven adjusted her aim on the other bandit near Pike and let the arrow fly. After she loosed the arrow she turned to take Maple's hand again "Let's get out of here" She said

Pike threw up both arms instinctively as the hot flames danced towards his face. A cry of pain escaped his lips as the torch singed his arm hairs and lit a small portion of his sleeve on fire. He seen the second bandit with the shield, but had no time to brandish his own weapon which had been partically used to blocked the flames. Instead, he tried to dodge sideways but was not quick enough to avoid the shield completely. It clipped him on the shoulder and sent him spinning awkwardly into the cave wall where he was left to clumsyily try and regain his balance in the dark and pat the flames on his arm out.

At that moment the torch that had been sputtering went out completely and the small cavern went dark, the only light coming from around the bend from the exit tunnel where Pike and two bandits were currently engaged. The half blinded girl squeezed the elf's hand tightly and let herself be led.

As Pike was busy trying to regain his balance, the man with the shield slipped past to get on the other side of of the beat up caravan guard while the one with the torch stayed put, forcing Pike to split his attention between two fronts.

Meanwhile, Terrick was keeping the dirty cloth clamped down on his leg, searching awkwardly with his other hand for the light stone Raven had given him earlier.

Raven blinked to adjust to the change in light and placed her bow over her shoulder again. She led Maple towards the juncture, pulling her dagger back out as she moved closer to the remaining bandits and Pike.

Pike cursed loudly as the tunnel was plunged into darkness again. He could vaguely see the bandit who was silhouetted against the light from the other tunnel, but the other bandit was completely lost to him in the darkness. In his condition he didn't relish taking on either bandit at the moment, and for a second he started debating his decision to join Terrick and Raven on the quest to rescue Linden and Mavis. At this point it was looking like not only would they fail to rescue their friends, but also be captured themselves.

Exhausted and out of breath, he only stood against the cave wall and waited for one of the bandits to approach him. Even a couple of seconds to collect his thoughts--and breath--would be valuable.

Raven walked up behind the bandit silently. She brought her dagger up and struck the back of his head to knock him out.

Mavis crouched in the small crevice in the wall, still hidden from the bandits. He could hear the loud shouts and smacks from the battle, but couldn't see anything through the burlap sack and Linden's jacket. After having rested for the small time period that the battle had taken place in, he felt strong enough to try venturing out of the hiding place. The battle had gotten quieter, and he thought maybe he could do something to help.

Peeking out from behind the clothing, he could see nothing in the dark tunnel. He hadn't realized how dark it was. Not having the luxury of a light stone, he stepped gingerly out of the crevice and felt his way along the wall by feel. His legs felt shaky, but he managed to make it far enough that he bumped into Terrick. At first he wasn't sure who it was, but he could hear the man's labored breathing and knelt down to get a better look.
