"So?" Mavis looked at her with wide blue eyes. "What difference does that make if you repeat their actions?"

Karin looked down. "T-they... I do it because i want to!" tears formed in her eyes and she looked up and brush her dark hair out of her eyes. "They killed my parents and took me hostage. I was only a baby then and as i grew older i thought i had been abandoned. They told i wasnt when i was ten. Its been four years since then. I have no place to go so i continue to help them rob people.""So?" Mavis looked at her with wide blue eyes. "What difference does that make if you repeat their actions?"
Terrick did a quick head count as the guards started to regroup. Including himself, he counted 6 of them still standing, and 11 of the bandits. And he noticed with a pang of guilt that Mavis wasn't anywhere to be seen. Hopefully the boy had been able to run away to hide somewhere and wasn't one of the mud and blood covered bodies littering the ground. Terrick wasn't sure what circumstances had led the boy to be traveling with the caravan, but Mavis was well liked among the guards and the sellsword was more troubled than he would ever admit that the boy might have met an early end.
He began to lead the much smaller group up the hill, abandoning the single wagon in hopes of salvaging the remaining three. He could only hope the bandits weren't so encouraged by their victory that they felt emboldened to try for the other wagons as well. For the moment though, the guards were allowed to retreat without being harassed.
A few of the bandits whooped in victory, then began moving toward the wagon, intending to strip its contents.

Inside, Rorik's eyes widened in panic as he was still unable to get a full breath and he struggled unsuccessfully to get back to his feet.
Mavis was silent for a few moments after Karin finished speaking, his eyes falling from her face to his feet. "I have a family too, you know." He looked behind them to the muddy road, strewn with blood and bodies. "They are my family, the guards... the caravan... and your people have destroyed it all. I might never see them again." He thought of the friends he had made over the last few weeks. Terrick and Linden, he didn't even know if they had survived.
Amber looked up at the sound of chains. She stood and moved to the treeline to find the source of the sound. When she saw the girl she paused then stepped out of concealment. The half elf watched the blond girl for a moment longer before speaking "Hello"Karin shrugged. "Well.. Its what we do." She brushed her dark wavy hair out of her eyes then held out her hand. "Im karin by the way. Who are you?"
A young girl stumbled through the forest. Her wavy blond hair was tangled and her dress was muddy. She had chains on her wrist and shackles on her ankles that were loose enough for her to walk but not enough to run. She tripped and fell to her knees. Cursing she struggled to her feet and continued on.
Linden spun around with the blade raised and was slightly surprised to see Rorik still gasping for breath, leaned against the barrel. He heard the whooping cheer from the bandits outside and realized with a pang of sorrow that the caravan guards must have been defeated. That feeling, however, was quickly replaced by one of panic as he also realized that the bandits would soon reach the wagon in hopes of looting it. Injured as he already was, he knew he couldn't hope to take on the group of them alone. Running out of options, and time, he lunged forward with the blade outstretched towards the bandit leader's chest. It was the only move he had left.
Karin shrugged. "Well.. Its what we do." She brushed her dark wavy hair out of her eyes then held out her hand. "Im karin by the way. Who are you?"
