One of my pullets decided to raid the trash can and eat the string from the food bag. It had a small piece of paper still attached and, in some ways fortunately, became knotted around her leg which prevented it from going further into her digestive tract.
I discovered it because she was making funny noises and several other chicks were starring at her. I pulled it out, very slowly, and while I held her my wife cut the string from her leg. One of the photos I took earlier in the evening caught it, but I didn't see it until later. She's on the far left in the photo.
