I seriously doubt this is a common question, but not at all heard of, since I was witness to many folks bringing their dogs to the vet in the trunk. My question I had reading the story, any chance that person was mentally disabled? THe way you describe the situation sounds like someone manageing a mental disability, either a form of dementia or even a young mental disorder from birth. Glad youhandled it so well, I imagine the guy was very relieved as it made it easier to take her mind off the situation. Our birds are part of our family too, I hope they always go to a good home.BTW I forgot to mention to y'all what happened after just about everyone was gone. While we were still trying to figure out where everyone was going in the jeep, we had a 'couple' holding hands walk up. Come up from the wedding party that were looking at our Silkies...oh how much she was in love...just had to have them...please she begged this obviously much, much, MUCH younger man who appeared to be maybe 21!!. The young man kept saying no I don't think so, lets think about it...we are here for a wedding etc. This went on for at least a good 20 minutes...she (who appeared to be at least old enough for AARP) just would not stop asking....then she says well what about mama...we can get some for her...you know she would love them...then she asks me, do you think they would be fine for about 3 or 4 hours in the trunk while we are at the wedding?!?!?!Now mind you, I really try to be kind to everyone...but there are times when apparently my family says I show facial expressions and I don't know it. Apparently this was one of those times...the young man spoke up and says no baby I don't think she wants her chickens put in a hot trunk. I just couldn't take it anymore with these ridiculous questions, I was hot and tired...and no way in hell were my babies going to be put in a trunk...are you kidding me?!?! I realized at this point this woman can't be for real...am I on candid camera somewhere...is this a joke?! But this woman was just as serious as a heart attack!![]()
I finally had, had enough! I said here let me give you one of our cards and when you all get setup with a coop and such and talk it over with 'mama' then you guys give us a call! The young man seemed relieved by this as well, you could tell he was getting just as frustrated as I was with her. He was pulling her by the hand...come on baby, he says. But she keep turning around with a pouty face looking at the chickens. We went on with our business and they finally disappeared.
Oh my gosh...seriously though....3-4 hours in a hot trunk!!!!!!! No water, no feed...are you kidding me?!?! Have y'all experienced anything like this? This was our first time going to sell...so I just can't imagine this being a common question but maybe it is? I don't know....but I treat everyone of our chickens (regardless of how ornery they can be) exactly the same! They are a part of our family...not 'just chickens', and honestly yes my prices might be a bit high for my babies, but if they are as special to you as they are to me then the customer will pay it!![]()
OK, now I'm jumping off my soap box. LOL I need to get things done around here. But I am curious to know if any of you have experienced anything like this? I swear I thought it was a dream.Anyway, I just thought I would share this little story with y'all this morning.![]()
Have a great day everyone!!!

We were almost behind you and one of the few trying to get loaded up last thing also...she/they came by us after leaving you...she tried to buy my travel cage and some birds but I said - no I am sorry but I cannot sell my cages! I was thinking she had gotten into the wedding wine ahead of time! We kept loading and the young man got her to wander off with him...
I did a search for morganton chickenstock and it did not come up. Want to keep up with what's happening too. Can you give me more info so I can subscribe to the thread? Thanks. I sure did enjoy meeting everyone and hope to see all at the spring chickenstock....there will be one....right?I had a wonderful time and once again in Lincolnton and the ChickenStock! Thanks again for all the work and effort getting this organized! ABSOLUTELY GREAT JOB LADIES!!!...I never got a chance to wander and visitI sure was enjoying meeting everyone that made it by me and I appreciate everyone that loved my chicks and birds! For those who took some home with them...I sure hope you enjoy them! Looking forward to next time! Since this is the ChickenStock page I think people will dwindle down here so I guess I am off to my South Caolina page. I have added the North Carolina page to watch and hope to keep up and chat with my new North Carolina friends there!
Look for me on the Morganton ChickenStock page also!!! See you all soon I hope!![]()
FPC show in Morganton is not a chickenstock. It is a sanctioned Show.
