carrots

when I make carrots I peel them before cooking - I end up with shreds of carrots approximately 5 inches long - I was thinking of feeding these to my chickens but then remember the problem that long pieces of grass can cause in a chickens crop - impacted crop - what are your thoughts on this - thanks - Joe

You could just chop up the carrot shreds, but I don't think the carrot fibers are as much a problem as grass fibers can be.

I would just cut them into half to inch long pieces. As long as they have access to grit, they should be fine.

I've fed carrot peels to my flock for years with no issues.

Just be aware they will still be orangeish in their poop. First time I gave my chickens shredded carrots, I thought they had worms in their poop the next day lol
