I have been giving my birds zuchini, yellow squash,watermellon,tomatoes, and anything else that is left in the garden rather than let it go to waste! the only thing that they dont eat is the skin.

Look under 'A' for "Allium spp." The entry reads: (CHIVES, GARLIC, LEEKS, ONIONS); bulbs, bulblets, flowers, stems; gastrointestinal tract affected by plant toxins.

When I was a child my friend’s mother gave the chickens an old jack-o-lantern that was on her window sill for a little too long. The jack-o-lantern was soft and a little shrunken but the chickens loved it. Well it turned out that the pumpkin was fermented and she had drunken chickens staggering all over the yard for the rest of the afternoon. They were fine the next morning but a little sluggish. Must have been a hangover.
