I got a dollar on big glass on a big tripod. Really hard to find cases for some of the big telephotos, let alone one you can easily lug if you're out shooting.

Having said that, I tend to walk with my camera out too when I'm shooting. I'll toss it back in my backpack when I'm done, but if I'm shooting, it's in my hands the whole time. Or on a neck strap.
Now I'm thinking there might of been a miscommunication. I was thinking he never stored them in a case at all. 😅

When I'm in an active photoshoot, my camera is out with a strap around my neck. When I'm doing the chickens, I'll often have two cameras hanging off my neck (one's typically in my hand, and sometimes the extra is swung back so it doesn't hit anything). But when I'm not taking photos, like actually walking away from my chickens to do something or to put the flock away, the cameras are put back in my backpack.

I don't go anywhere. I do my birding right here at home.

My house is my "blind". The door to the deck has the upper screen and window removed so I open the door and "shoot" unimpeded.

None of my poultry are people imprinted. If I set something down near me it is safe since they will not come within arm reach of me.
Ok, that makes sense. For me, unfortunately, I don't have a lot of bird activity around my house. (It's actually has been days since I've seen a wild bird around my place. I did hear some this morning, which was nice, but also it's been awhile since I've heard any.)

For your chickens, what about using your birding lens? As I just mentioned of having two cameras on me, both have different size lens so I can switch between them without trying to switch the lens in a hurry (and risk getting stuff inside). The one with the 75-300 mm lens works good for chickens who are further away, or a bit skittish.

I don't store the cameras I use in a case. I do have my film SLR and lenses in a case. My Polaroids are in a drawer.

The only time I use a backpack is when packing out game animals which doesn't happen anymore because there is no one here but me to care for the poultry and garden. Ergo, no hunting trips.

About the only time I photograph my poultry is when I need ad photos to sell them. I pretty much use the phone camera for that.

I only use one camera at a time. I have one set up for macros and use the other for everything else. I have a wide variety of lenses I use for that one but the two that are used the most are the 50-200mm f/2.8 and the 300mm f/2.0.

I only use the Sigmonster 300-800mm f/5.6 on a tripod. Absolutely no way I would pack that thing anywhere.

Which one did you choose?
I didn't buy any flowers. I was at the store at 9:30 p.m., and I still hadn't taken my picture for the day, so I took pictures of flowers with my cell phone.
