Castrating Piglets and Worried

Do you have anyone that knows what they are doing to show you how to do it right this first time?? No way that i would do it by myself and not really sure how to do it...To risky for the anuimal and not really fair to them either.
I'd try to find someone to help me this first time... maybe an old farmer? Maye a farm vet will come out and get you started for a small fee??

We did them at about 3 days and no they hadn't dropped.But the testicles were there.I have seen it done the way your talking about.We always cut their tusks,tails and then castrate at the same time.I think someone first learning should be shown or at least watched to make sure its done right.I always probe the area with my fingers to make sure my landmarks are right on and I always try to cut as low as possible to aid in any draining.I thought I would add also that hogs don't drop there testicles down hanging the way bulls and goats do.Its really not possible to band one without causing a very large sore when the banded area falls off which is more likely to cause a hernia.

are internal mostly, so banding isn't much of an option. It is a very fast and easy process, but I really gotta agree with Redhen that you need to watch it being done first. I'm a computer idiot, but maybe you know how to search vids like youtube or whatever it's called? I would suggest finding a local farmer to walk you through it though. There are two methods commonly used around here, one is called cutting, the other is called cut and pull. The second method is what we use and what I recomend. I'll not go into details though, 'cause I don't wanna be responsible for you trying it without help.
