Hi guys. Kind of new here. Raised chickens before, but simply never had any major problems.

we ordered 26 chicks and the first night our cat got in the garage and played soccer ... or bowling with them. 4 were fatally injured and for the next 3 days we lost chicks.
Then it stopped and we thought our worries were over. We got more chicks and suddenly the FIRST batch started dying off... one each day. They are all getting the pastey butt, and we are cleaning them carefully, but even with electrolytes and some medicated feed that my son brought over, the pastey butt isn't going away!

What am I missing?
What SHOULD we be doing ????

thanks in advance!

Heat? Water contamination? Someone slipping treats into the brooder? Failure to treat for predator stress following the attack? Coccidia introduced into the brooder from the cat and it flaring into coccidiosis after an incubation period of five to seven days? Moldy feed? Air pollution from smoke or fumes from a nearby work shop? Rodent predation on the chicks?

Well...
That narrowed it down!

Thank you. .. I'll see what works.

You're not giving detailed enough information to narrow things down. Specifics make a huge difference, i.e. specifying the feed and mill date, exact temperatures in the brooder, both in hottest area and coolest, photos of the brooder, etc.

Pasty butt makes me think it's too hot, but given that the chicks were attacked, stress is a very possible issue as well.
