I'm flying with my cat this coming Friday (2 hour flight home) and need to buy an airline approved cat carrier. I will be taking her as a carry-on on so it needs to fit under the seat. I havn't been able to decide if a soft carrier or hard carrier is better. I'm afraid she will scratch or bite through the mesh on a soft carrier but i also am worried about lugging around a hard carrier with all of my other luggage throughout the airport. any suggestions? Also, has anyone else flown with a cat before? how did it go?
thanks!

I would go with a hard plastic one. Check with airline for size under seat. The hard plastic one will protect your cat from accidents and getting squashed in a pinch.
The soft one could allow the cat to get injured if you set down and someone steps wrong or sets a bag on it.

Have always used hard plastic crates for transport, much safer that way. I will take bulk any day to protect my guys.

If you're worried about the cat biting or clawing through the mesh, don't worry. Although I have never flown with mine, I have driven 6 hours with mine in a soft carrier. They did fine. I will warn you: The cat may cry when it goes in the carrier.
