What cuties!

I'm partial to black cats - I have three of my own, and a stray marbled tabby recently adopted me.

That's awesome! "My" first cat was black. One of mom's friends found him as a kitten; he had barely just started to open his eyes. She bottle raised him. He was such an awesome cat. Super athletic, and partial to me
yesss.gif
he was terrified of me when I was little, so (according to mom) I would crawl up to him and copy the sounds he made
lol.png
He died when I was four - took me 2 years to get over it. His name was Bagheera
smile.png

Miah adopted us, too! She had been running around outside with another gray tabby, but one night we found her out in the front yard with a sand burr stuck in her nose! Mom pulled it out, and she hasn'tleft since
lol.png
Now she is my cat - ehem - I am her cat

LOL...I so know what you mean - "cats have servants", right?

Miah sounds like she found her forever home.

Bagheera (great name!) sounds like he was a really wonderful cat, I'm sorry to hear that he passed.

I've had several cats who have passed over the years - they all leave their mark and will be remembered fondly.

Coincidentally, the first cat I recall having was a black female cat who actually belonged to a neighbor - who left her when his family moved away. She was a very affectionate, intelligent cat and an unparalleled killer of mice/moles/birds...even saw her run down a squirrel once. She'd leave her presents on the back deck for us (it could be pretty gory sometimes). She had always been an indoor/outdoor cat and had to fend for herself so I understood why she constantly hunted, but my current cats are all indoors only.

Pretty much. Although, as far as some cats I've met go, Miah really does love me. It's adorable. She comes up and gets me out of bed at 7:30 every morning, and then we sit and talk, and I pet her, and she makes all her funny little purr noises... she's so cute
love.gif
I call her "Squeak" cuz that's what she does - squeak!

Both my kitties are indoor/outdoor. Miah was a stray, so she knows how to take care of herself, and Shadow was at one point too. In fact, I think that's why we got him. The people who "caught/tamed" him had to keep him inside because of the stupid leash law, and he hated it. All he wanted to do was go outside and roll in the dirt, and kill rats, and taunt dogs by sitting on the roof and hissing at them, but he couldn't. SO we brought him out here, and the second day he was here, he killed three mole rats. THREE! He's an awesome hunter.
