cat food crunch!

I have no research whatever to back up my theory, but, as it happens in other species, I would predict it could happen to chickens.

We humans have probably caused prion diseases in ourselves ( an outbreak of kuru, a degenerative brain prion disease in Papua, New Guinea in the 1920's was considered to be due to cannibalism....eating human brains in this instance!). Prions survive cooking....hence BSE (mad cow disease) probably transmits to humans from eating meat as Kreutzfeld-Jacob Disease. These diseases jump species as well....so better safe than sorry.

Personally I don't think it's worth taking the risk when there are so many alternatives available, and I am unashamedly biased.

Hi All,
If you need a higher protein feed for your flock why not not buy a higher protein chicken feed which is formulated for chickens not cats.
Check the protein content of the cat food and compare the cost to hi protein chicken or turkey feed. I would bet cat food is more expensive when ingredients are compared. Try fish meal formulated for poultry to boost protein content of your mix or raise meal worms.

Joe

how do i raise meal worms?!? is this a small area/easy thing or somthing that is going to take a bit of doing?

oh, as as for a few posts up, no prob going off on a few other things...i love learning about things..i found it interesting!!

that was my first idea and seamed best to me, but the feed store here only had game bird with 20% and my layer is already 16% so not really a lot more.

Why not just crunch up for a few days and mix with uncrunched, slowing increasing uncrunched until its all uncrunched. Chickens are creatures of habit and will slowly get used to it .If u still have a problem just moisten it.
