First, check with the vet for underlying health issues. Is your cat going hungry for a long time before coming inside to eat? If so, try feeding him in shorter intervals. I would change over to feeding wet food at regular times, personally. It took my cat 6-9 months to accept wet food and she's still a dry food junkie when she can get it. We only give her one portion per meal to reduce the likelihood of vomiting, but she gets 3-4 small meals a day.

Wow. All my cats would kill for wet food over dry food. But with my cat being overweight the vet recommended not wet food too often. But that’s a good call if you haven’t checked with the vet on this issue maybe see if there’s another underlying health problem if the suggestions don’t work. How much does your cat weigh? My vet was awesome and gave me a reference weight chart. The recommended amount for weight on the bag is always too much. You got a love manufacturers. This was my grandpa's favorite joke. Something about a lady asked the vet why her dog was so fat when she'd been following the instructions on the bag of food.

Yep. That’s part of why my mainecoon ended up 15 pounds when really she should be about 12. We’re down to 12 1/2 now.

He was just at the vet and is perfectly healthy.
He just really likes to eat.
I see him at the feeder at least 6 times a day. He goes outside like every hour so I don't think it's boredom.

Sounds like my dog. Perfectly healthy but if there is food available it will get eaten. Every bit of it. She even sits there for about 20 minutes and licks the flavor out of the bowl. LOL my cat is down to 12 pounds now and I’m feeding her a quarter cup in the morning and a quarter cup in the evening. It was what my vet recommended a cat that weight 11-12 lbs should be eating I think my bag of cat food says one cup total per day for that weight! Again sometimes I hate manufacturers. I hope this information and the other information given is helpful I hate seeing any of my cats or any of my animals sick. Even if they’re doing it to themselves and I also hate cleaning up cat puke. LOL.

She also said the high-protein foods are of course a bit healthier but they will fill a cat or dog up much faster. I trust my vet very well. I’m a little picky when it comes to a vet And went to a few before her and wasn’t really impressed. But since I found her she’s had my business for 10 years now

It does! I'll switch him over to that regimen. We are so sick of him puking everywhere.

When our cat turned fifteen he started doing the same thing. We still leave dry food available, but he now gets two cans of wet food a day. He'll nibble at the dry food if he feels like it, but he won't let anyone forget meal time with his wet food. And he doesn't vomit everywhere.
