I don't think you have anything to worry about. We have a lot of cats and strays and they have never bothered our birds. My chickens even pick on the cats and peck them haha. One of our cats have caught a little wild bird once though so if you have any little tiny chicks I would watch out for them. We do have smaller chickens but they seem to be fine and the cats don't bother them.
You shouldn't have to worry. Only worry if It starts Bugging your chickens (looking at them is not bugging), or trying to get to them. But for now just keep an eye on him.
Lot's of people who own cats and let them outside don't put collars on them. (like mine) So don't think their feral just because they don't were a collar. Mine don't because when their outside it could get snagged on something.
