Netting, or chicken wire would work. Better than that, try electric fencing.

Have you thought of cattle panels from Tractor Supply? They’re pretty stiff, inexpensive and could cover a lot of space. Then maybe fill in spots with chicken wire fencing.

Be hard to put a solid roof on there with that tree in the way.
Maybe some heavy duty netting.
@rosemarythyme has a good example of netting...
....and maybe she knows who might have a 'tree installation'.

Just an idea, we put our ducks in a doghouse to which my husband attached a door with a latch, at night. During the day they are fenced in a 30 x 30 ft enclosure with their kiddie pool. During hot weather we wet them down with cold well water spray that they love.

Interesting! A cattle panel roof? Would at least keep cats out, and it would be easy to fasten… the pen is 8 feet wide, so it would probably also be easy to fit them. Thanks for the idea!
