Don't lose hope just yet.
My sister's DBF (now DH) took his cat to the vet where I worked to get neutered and that crazy cat somehow escaped (I was off that day, thank goodness!) from the exam room and made it out the front door - GONE! The vet was about 5 miles from his home, across suburbs, an industrial area and several major highways. They thought he was gone forever until - yes, about a week later there he is - sitting in their driveway. It was amazing. The cat did go back to the vet and this time he did get neutered -without incident.

No luck yet--live trap was in place for 2 days with no capture but I suspect she had moved from the spot. We have alerted all the people in the area to give use a call if they see her--if we can find where she's hiding we may have a better chance of trapping her. My DW was devastated that she wouldn't come to her when called but I suspect she is too wary to do that.

She's still where I first spotted her--saw her last night. DW called but she just ran away and hid in the brush. I reset the live trap and this morning had the cutest skunk which I release without incident. Reset the trap and included one of my DW's worn tshirts. Will keep trying.

sorry to hear about your cat.
Here's an idea, if you and your DW can, take an hour and have a picnic where kitty is at now, throw down a blanket, sit, eat, read, talk, and while you and DW are there relaxing kitty just might decide to join you!

Glad to hear she is still alive and kickin'...what an ornery little devil she is though!

I had to laugh about the skunk. They are pretty darn cute when you really look at them.

I had a cat that took off when we moved to a new state. Gone for many days . I finally sat outside at night jiggling cat food intermitant but mostly just sitting cross legged on ground. Eventually she came up behind me and acted like she had never been gone. Good luck, hope u can catch her.
