We have an indoor cat named Molly, who is 12 years old. She has a bad sore on her chest area around her nipple. It has been there for a few weeks now and is not getting better. It has been leaking and bleeding. It is hard around the sore and you can feel it under the skin. She doesn’t act any different and doesn’t seem to be in any pain. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Also a vet is not a possibility right now.

I would do whatever I had to do to get her in to a vet, asap. But I am someone who tends not to worry when I can panic immediately, so my first thought is, Dear Vet, tell me this is not a cancerous tumor, and we will go from there. At the vet's there is paperwork to sign up for low-cost care. Look into it, and good luck.

Something like this I think is for a vet, sorry. I know how difficult it can be though to not be able to do that.

It looks like a tumour to me, but others may have other opinions.

Just because she doesn't act like she's in pain doesn't mean she isn't as it's in their nature to hide it.

For in-home treatment, perhaps something with zinc oxide in it to help dry it.

Agreed. This doesn't look like something that can be treated at home to me. Hopefully she is ok!

This needs to be seen by a Vet. Her age, its location--suspicious. I would go now while it's still relatively small. Good luck to you and her!

That’s good, much less likely to be cancer if she’s spayed!

It is with a heavy heart that I am posting this tonight. We did talk Molly to the vet and she had a mammary tumor. The vet said that without doing any tests he was sure it was cancerous. We made the decision yesterday evening to put her down.

Molly was found in a dumpster as a kitten I got her from the lady who rescued her a few weeks later. I’ve had her 12 years and will miss her a lot.
