Cat stuck in tree

My 6 month old kitten did a similar thing (many years ago now). I was getting distraught and a friend of mine said, "Have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree?" Sure enough, she came down when she got too tired and too hungry to be afraid of the downward jump. At least she had sense enough not to do it again.

Why couldn't you do that to begin with, you silly cat!!????

Because people were trying to catch her, and throwing things at her.

Best to just leave them alone and let them figure it out

My Dodger got stuck in a tree when he was about 6 months old. Bless his heart. He has always been too curious for his own good. I got home one night and couldn't find him anywhere. I called and called and called but no kitty (at the time he was sleeping in the chicken coop at night). I finally gave up around midnight. At 6 the next morning I was out shaking the treat can and calling like crazy. For some reason the chickens were fussing, but I didn't think anything about it at the time. I finally saw him up the tree and my old lady self started shimmying up the tree after him. I finally got close enough for him to jump to my hand and down we came. The chickens fussed and fussed at him once we were back at ground level. I went back in and got ready for work. All of a sudden the chickens went NUTS! Squawking and screaming and carrying on like crazy. I went sprinting back out thinking a hawk had come down. Nope. They were all standing in the run looking in one particular direction and screaming the danger call. I followed their line of sight to see Dodger climbing another tree.

He came scampering down when I called and all the chickens shut up. It was hysterical. Clearly they considered him a sadly misshapen chick and they were telling him to behave himself.

Do you know how hard that is??? Very hard, I tell you! It was very hot out there. He'd been up there for goin on 3 days. I couldn't sleep knowing he was miserable. I can't NOT try to get him down. Imagine something or someone you love suffering just out of arms reach and everyone telling you that eventually they will come to safety when they've had enough suffering. I guarantee you would do your best to help them.

Sorry for the rant.

Glad you could get your kitty down, CityGirlintheCountry! You too, Featherbaby. I hope I don't go through this again. But if it does happen, maybe it'll be easier to get him down.

exactly, I work for the local fire dept. we get called atleast 6 times a year for a cat in a tree. I have yet to see a cat skeleton in a tree they always come down eventually.

Glad your cat is OK.
They don't always come down out of trees. Eventually they get hurt or killed by predators.
When that happened to me I ended up paying,
"Cat in a Tree Rescue" to come out and get her down.

Imp

Glad he's ok, one of my cats sat in a tree for the longest time and got down eventually. I told him that you got up there so you can get yourself down and walked away. He got down.

Same, I got one out and a few days later he was stuck in the same tree. That was the last time I got him down, and he figured it out

Some friends of mine have. They didn't even know the cat was up there until it was too late.
