Cat training/toilet training question

Wow thanks for the great responses so far. I am looking forward to a lot more hopefully

When I've wanted to use the cat's toilet, I lift the ring, remove the litter tray and set it aside, replace the toilet seat, do whatever is needed, put the seat back up, replace the tray, put the seat back down, and flush.

Guys, once the hole in the center is larger than the average stream, can just aim carefully unless they're looking for a comfy seat. (It can be a challenge, early on in the process.)

Did I remember to say, first remove the cat? And then replace it afterwards?

I had mine almost trained to use the toilet. He had just started to go by himself (without me putting him up there). And then disaster struck!

He slipped and fell in. Poor cat never even went into the bathroom again.

Thanks everyone! Based on the responses so far it seems that toiled training a cat is a worthwhile endeavor after all. I was thinking about the issue of a cat falliing into the toilet and I suppose one could make a non-skid mat for the cat to stand on. It could be easily made to remove for when the humans needed to use it as well
