Catastrophe in the nest.

Heres what I've decided..I'm just going to leave her and the nest (shes just being puffy and making broody noises about 5ft from it). If she doesnt hop on, I'm going to just abort the mission. I'm afraid to leave her. I candled and they all seem to look like different stages? And the one I cant see much, maybe it failed. They are actually on day 10, but since I'm new to this, it's hard to figure out what I'm dealing with.

The snowflake (not political) is back on the nest!! I'll update for the sake of the thread, when other things happen. I meddle too much, she was probably just trying to dry out.

My rooster should have gone days ago. He attacks everyone but had a good several days so I decided to keep him. He will run 100 yards to attack me. But I do know, that that is nature. She has been separated in a little coop we built, that is going to go ontop of her own run for she and the chicks. I had it open barely and he squeezed in.
That's a rooster that needs to go.... It won't get better! And there are plenty of nice roosters being rehomed if you need one.

Can't condemn him for his determination. Where there is a will, there is a way and boy does he have a lot of will!

Hes a creep, I have a 7 yr old and a 2 year old here .he attacks everyone and its stressful. If anyone wants him they can come and get him, otherwise hes going.
The only good place for that kind of rooster is the stew pot, frying pan, or oven. Believe me, there are many really nice roosters that care for their hens, call them over for tasty tidbits they find, and try to keep them away from dangerous predator prone areas... Help direct them to good nesting spots... Yes, Virginia, there ARE nice roosters! (But, yeah, the one you have now is a real jerk!) Nice roosters do not attack people or bite the hands that feed them... Last year I ordered some straight run chickens and got sent extra chicks, all lived, and the extras all seemed to be roosters. I had speckled Sussex, Light Brahmas and some Cochins. 4 roosters in each breed, only 1 or 2 hens... I couldn't rehome them, so I ate them in the order that they pissed me off with horrible behavior. Soon, there was only 1 Speckled Sussex, because all of those were mean except one that was much smaller. I had all the Light Brahmas for almost a year. They were very sweet, got along with all the other chickens, even other roosters in a mixed pen with hens. Same with the Cochins, except for one Bantam partridge Cochin they threw in there. I had a wonderful Buff Brahma rooster that I named Dagwood and he died trying to defend his EE free range hens from an evil predator mutant fox/coyote thing. His hens loved him. I still miss him. I finally sold the Light Brahmas because I never could bring myself to eat them because they were so nice, but had no hens for them.

Thanks for your support! That's hilarious about your eating order! Wonder what your mutant predator was!? Chupacabra!
I love my dark brahma!I was considering getting a brahma rooster.....I think we are gonna live without a rooster for awhile. My friend is coming over within the hour to help me dispatch him. I'm sad but he really does have to go. My husband wants to just shoot him but with two kids around, we dont really need him running around half dead.

Well the friend decided they were going to see if he fit in with their chickens. Meanwhile they have kids also, but way more chickens than I have. I didnt really want to eat him...i just wanted him dead or gone. And I wanted to put his tail feathers on something lol
