Catching ducks

You should NEVER take ducks out of the wild!!! If you want a mallard to show, heck, go buy one!!! These ducks are wild, flying creatures. They shouldn't be disturbed!
Also, it's very illegal.

You'd know if they were released. They'd wouldn't be able to fly, you'd be able to catch them, and they wouldn't seem feral if they were domesticated.

I haven't seen these birds, but chances are that they belong where they're at.

Actually, unless their wings have been clipped domestic Mallards can fly just as well as Wild ones. If they are domestic their back toe should already be clipped off to differentiate them from wild ones. You wouldn't be able to catch my Domestic Mallards that's for sure.

It’s not illegal they are an introduced species here, and are not protected in Australia. It would be illegal if you were to take native species such as Australian Wood ducks and Pacific Black Ducks.

Pacific black ducks being a species that the Mallards are hybridising with. Apparently, there are no pure Pacific black ducks left in the wild due to the Mallards. Mallards don’t cause enough damage in agricultural areas to be recognised as a bad pest species, so it is hard to find any information on the practice of dealing with them. Like if you are allowed to trap them. But you can take wild Mallard eggs in a state (I think VIC) if you have a permit. I am trying to find information from NSW government resources on whether you require a permit to catch them, but am unable to source anything so far except information on them hybridising and some stuff to do with pesticides.
