Catching "wild" chook?! Need advice!

Finding out there are many ways to use the term chook, cooked chickens, dumb chickens, chicken calls, chicken coops... I'm not really sure why it matters? Sometimes I call full grown dogs "poopies" that's just me ;P

Hey spinxface I believe ‘chook’ originated in Australia and it is indeed slang for chicken.

We quite commonly, probably more often than not, refer to chickens as chooks.

‘Chooken’ has also been common of late.

I, for one, like that it may be catching on in the States also

I read it on here! I thought it was really cute ;( sorry if it offends anyone?

I'm almost worried my current flock has mites or lice or something is making them unwell... I suppose i should search introducing a new HEN into the flock. I'm unsure of many things ;(

Just in case I have, I thought I had also better mention that no offence meant to be given.

It was surprising and also nice to see someone in the United States using the term "chook".

When talking about or to the gals, they are rarely referred to as chickens and more often as chooks, chookens, ratbags, terrors, dinosaurs, troublemakers etc.

Chook is also used in Australia on affectionate terms; as in one's Mother being called The Old Chook with nothing but affection intended. People also use it affectionately in "how are you today chook"
