Sounds like that little guy needs a good, loving home. I agree with those who said to try and tame him and make him part of the family. He's got some disadvantage without that one eye and he's likely to not make it to adulthood because of it if he's living as a feral.

My barn cats would take a chick in a heartbeat but they don't go near my adult chickens. They've each tried and been chased by my chickens... they now give a wide berth or completely ignore the chickens.

I had two kittens and a cat dropped off in the past 4 months plus our family cat. Since I FR my chicks I was worried, but I keep the cats well fed and have not had any problems. I would just keep an eye on the kitty and chicks. I have a pic of my cat and rooster sleeping by each other I'll try to post

We have been feeding him, and he kind of tolerates our touching. Poor little guy. Er, girl, or whatever.

We'll try to coax him so we can get him his shots so we'll be safe around him. My chicks love him. He's friendly then my housecat, who would love to make a meal of my BR chicks. I'm going to keep him and give him a home. Hopefully.

My chickens have started to menace my cats since hitting puberty recently. Yesterday my 11yo, 15-pound female cat lost a fight with the 4 month old, 2-3 pound BR pullet. The BR chased the poor cat, who didn't understand what was happening. She swiped at the chicken (claws are clipped & dull), yowled, and theBR continued to chect bump and peck her. Poor kitty!

I feel bad for my 2 kitties... they just want to sunbathe, roll in dirt, and poop outside without being bothered by pesky chickens! The female is having a worse time of it than the male.

Stupid cats are going to have to teach those chooks some respect, though I doubt it'll happen. Maybe the BR will keep my neighbors' cat out of the yard. who comes into my house for cat food.

It's funny, we have 2 cats who don't really care about the chickens. They'll come up and sit with us by the run while we're chicken watching - the chickens see them but don't mind them at all.

BUT when a strange cat comes into the yard they all turn into meerkats and the roosters crow at it!! It's amazing how smart chickens can be (when they want to)

My kitten likes the chickens and ducks but try's to eat the quail. Go figure

I have an enclosed run and one of my cats will sit on top of it watching the chickens for hours. I have another cat that is freaked out by them and will run and hide if he even sees a chicken even if it is through the window in the house!

I have adopted 4 ferals and they have never bothered my chickens, they will however climb my back porch screen door when I go out wanting Kitty Chow. They do keep the mouse population down to Zero as every thing that moves is prey and quickly consumed.

I took my cat into the chicken coop the other day. He didn't care at all about the chickens, he was more interested in the hay.

I used to have a cockateil that would get out of his cage. I'd come home to find the cat, the bird and the dog all hanging out.

I have a cat who loves the chicks and chickens and in a good way. He loves to hang out with them while they free range, he loves staying in run under bushes with them, he loves to sleep in coop with them, he even gets in nest boxes with them. They don't seem to mind. It's like they're good buddies and he's their protector. A good cat that hangs out with chicks and chickens and doesn't bother them is worth it's weight in gold because it can help keep other predators away and can keep mice and rats out of coop.

Sounds like the little kitten found a great home. Continue to let it hang out with the chicks, under your supervision, till you've had it awhile and know it can be trusted. Not all dogs and cats are bad news where chicks and chickens are concerned. My three cats and three dogs all intermingle with my free ranging flock all day long. Been almost two years and never a problem.

Thanks for taking in a "special needs" kitten. I take in every stray, most of my pets were strays that showed up and almost everyone has a special need. They make the best pets and are loyal and loving and appreciative.
