Cattle Dogs (Queensland) Changing?

IamSamSam: Your Sam reminds me of my Bo in the face. Though Bo is a mix, not sure with what though.

To the OP: the first ACD looks like it's just over weight. The second one however looks like they bred an ACD with an American Bully! What are they breeding to get the "New thing"?

Hi all,
Here is a few photos of my new boy(Kodi) and some of my old rescued girl(Sheila)..

My blue girl has a skin disorder, where if she scratches or gets a cut abnormal amounts of scar tissue grows back. Found out the hard way took her camping and she ran into some briars, cut herself up pretty bad. Took her to the vet(UF), said to let heal otherwise it was a major surgery to repair. BTW, she cannot have antheisia, it will kill her.

I adore Kodi!!! Sheila, there's just something about her I love. She's pretty, even with all her problems. Poor girl.

Here's my Bocephus. He's not pure, we're not even sure if he has ACD in him. He's a ball of energy, and knows how to herd, but really looks like a mini GSD.
We got him from a family a little over 2 years ago, he was 8 months old, and we were told he was ACD. I never saw a black and tan, but didn't care if he was a mix, because when I met him I fell in love with him.

He's the black and tan.

SQUEE.

Heeler puppys are to DIE for. I found pictures of Trixie when she was a puppy... let me see if I can get one to post... First picture Trixie was about... two?

Trixie was at least three in this picture... I still see The shaved portion on her opposite hip where she had her surgery...

Pond dog!

Trixie and her OOPS litter. This litter she bred with a catahoula of my neighbors... This is the litter that collapsed her uterous.

Close up... love shot. No other breed shows love like a heeler!

Obese? Yes. Kind? Yes. Caring? Yes. No one loves me like Trixie does.

Sorry, got a LITTLE carried away again... Ya'll know I love showing off Trixie...
It's easy to get carried away when you love these guys!

Exactly ! I believe people are cross breeding with other breeds which is where the weird colors and extreme heads come from. I will never understand why people will pay money for mixed breed dogs!

Kodi is a cutie and growing so fast! Poor Sheila at least she has been well cared for and she looks very happy!

Quote: That particular dog is from a local place that has several generations on site. As near as I can tell, they are all cattle dogs (mouth corners and all are in line with that being the case), with no bully breeds or anything being bred in. The trend is just going toward breeding blockier (ie. have you seen traditional Am pitbulls next to the over muscled ones? Not mixes, but bred to be big and blocky. A bit different as that is not a show trend as far as I know). They are AKC registered, though obviously that can be falsified, but the trend towards blocky is something I haven't been able to escape in general. X(

Oh wait! I thought you meant these:

You meant this one?
http://cdn.backyardchickens.com/4/4c/4c3d42fc_132.jpeg I'll have to look back as to where that one came from. I want to say that one was from a breeder website who is involved in showing, but will have to check.

In case I did not post it, a fairly well established conformation breeder went from:

I love the first dog...you couldn't pay me enough to buy the second. Went from streamline to blocky and lost the intelligent ACD eyes I just love. Just my personal opinion.

Your American Pitbull Terrier is a different breed from the over muscular ones now. A lot of people don't recognize them as a breed, but a new breed has to start some where.

I agree though, the blockier ACDs I'm not a fan of. I do love my Bo though, if he has any ACD in him. He's blocky, but can still get the job done. I'd rather have, I guess you could now call them "old fashioned" ACDs, but the last ACD you posted, I could handle, if he could get the job done, and right. As long as I'm not showing that is.

What I don't understand is how can they show those dogs? They don't even meet the ACD standard anymore?!
