Cattle Panel Question

I added one sides anti dig mat this morning. Hardware cloth from inside the coop so basically free. I'll have to wait to finish the siding to get the other pieces I need. Why waste?

The area you see just outside the mat will be a narrow planting bed to grow fast stuff for shade. I'm feeling uncertain about critters behaviors though.

Will they push through the plants to dig at the base, or will they dig at the base of the plants, beyond the mats, thus gaining entrance? I guess what we all think I can adjust for with the hot wires. So what do you guys think?

I'd think they'd go thru the plants to the wall...leave some gaps in plants to be sure maybe?

Got something good to pin that wavy edge of HC down?
Why I like heavier gauge fencing for aprons, but I understand the 'free' part.

I have those big landscape fabric staple looking things to try. Might work. Then a thick layer of wood chips

Fixed one ugly wall piece today, with another top hinged window. I feel a bit guilty as this window is awfully nice, wavy poured glass. Hope the birds like antiques!

I have prop open windows on all 3 sides now and there's always a nice breeze moving through.

Got some assorted latches and odds and ends in. Been getting my garden going too, many irons in my fire this spring!

Hoping to get the one remaining wall built tomorrow, need a door, then onto the duck yard, followed by outdoor chicken run expansion. No idea if I'll get all this done this summer honestly. This isn't a coop it's a complex. I'm a little overwhelmed!

More to do, but you've done a lot already...it's FABulous!!
Here's a ponder for you. How to economically wire cover a run that's about 20 ft wide. I've considered working something up with tensioned wires from the barn wall to strong fence posts. Then put the 2x4 wire or chicken wire on top of the wires.
