Cattle Panel Roof Coop Plans

Ok, I should get a picture of the area tomorrow. Today, it completely slipped my mind.

@aart, thanks for the recommendation of SketchUp! it is working like a charm for me. SOOOO much better than the other tool I was using. I'm doing a recreation in 3D of the plans I made before.

I was just wondering if anyone has tried putting two cattle panels together end to end to maybe expand the width of a cp coop. I love the simplicity of building a cp coop but would like for it to be wider . Yes I do realize you would have to overlap them quite a bit and not sure if hogrings would be strong enough to hold the overlap.

Not sure. I know some folks have done t-post and pallet walls and then they put cattle panels on top. I ultimately decided not to do this coop plan. A lot has changed in 2.5 years.

You'd probably need to support it down the middle, like with a ridge beam.
ETA, with posts to support ridge beam, of course.
..and use lot of hog rings or wire in multiple places.
Haven't see it done.
Get a couple panels and give it a try.
Connect them and lift it up to see how it feels and looks.

If you have snow, the arch even with a ridge pole, might not be strong enough to prevent collapse.

I've tried it, but not for a hoop coop. I made a quick round pen with 3 panels. I overlapped the panels by 16". I fastened them together with rebar wire on every overlapping grid corner. Held a neighbor's cow that escaped until they could come get him.

Actually I wanted to not have to build walls but thanks for the reply.

Well thanks for the reply, understand about the ridge beam though I guess that would be a great idea anyways since I plan on putting it in the edge of the woods with possibly small branches falling and all

I’ve got to say that you must be a awesome neighbor to do that , I commend you for that
