Caught in the Act

Sorry for your loss but sounds like the other animals got some help or were put out of their misery. I guess if there is a silver lining that would be it, as tarnished as it may be.

Poor mamma .. trying to survive and take care of pups
Poor chickens .. preyed on by starving dog
Poor OP .. losing chickens because of irresponsilbe hoarding owner ..

Sometimes it's hard not to hate people..

To the OP .. good job with the pic ..

What a senseless and needless loss of life all the way around.

The sad thing about hoarders is that they are normally not bad people. They literally have no idea that what they are doing is bad. They have no idea their animals are sick or starving. They don't see the mess and disease. They are very messed up in the head people with good hearts that live in completely alternate realities.

It's incredible, as you can look around their homes and wonder how they can't see the obvious.

My mother and grandmother are hoarders (thankfully, not of animals). I grew up in a dump and I inherited the disorder, which I have to work against all the time.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with this. I'm so sorry you lost your chickens.

Are you still going to pursue giving them the bill?

Well, that story just sucks all the way around, but I just wanted to comment on the photo. Can't get a more incriminating photo than that! Was that a game cam?

So sorry you lost your chickens, I supose you could look at it as a fortunate thing for the animals this woman hoarded in that now there suffering is over. But for you it must have been so upsetting, my daughter got home after shopping one day to find a dog had got on her garden and killed her 14 wk chicks it broke her heart they were the first hatching eggs they had. The owner did pay for them but the dog still roams the streets during the day and theres nothing we can do about it.

Yes, there is something you can do about it but it's probably not legal. In some states, livestock owners are within their rights to "destroy" predators....enough said. And if you've ever been involved in guerilla warfare, there are strategies and tactics that get the job done.
