I live in California. Apparently the animal leftists have managed it so that we can't even have rat traps. We're supposed to live trap everything or use a licensed trapper. Apparently there are also expensive permits. Lots of live trapped animals in the Bay Area die of mysterious head injuries, since the law states that we can only release whatever we trap in the same place we trapped it.

I have neighbors down the streets who are apparently exchanging Norway rats.

BTW - the schools can no longer use insecticides; apparently cockroaches wandering over the premises is considered "healthier" than using a pesticide.

Interesting thread, for those who have not skinned a coon do not eat it unless you know where to remove there scent glands. Your house will smell as bad as the meat will taste. I hunt and eat everything i kill minus the racoon because who knows what those vermen have eaten.

Are the scent glands near the butt? I noticed when I killed the raccoon that it did have a horrible odor already.

It's called a dog proof trap. It's small. The coon try's to grad whatever is in side and it snaps on their hand.

Yes they are in the hind quarter of the animal between the muscle tissue. If i recall there in the legs, butt and lower back. They are distinct brown sacks like a chick pea mixed with tissue. Just pull the meat where the fibers and fat separate naturally and you'll find em. Best of luck
