Caulk to deter mites in new wood coop?

I totally caulked mine. I was, once upon a time, a professional painter for super fancy custom built homes so it came natural to caulk everything up for a nice finish. Caulk goes before your final coat of color. It shouldn't be left unpainted. My chickens have no ideas it's even there.

You'll know it if mites become a problem because you'll feel them in your hair/scalp if you spend very much time in the coop with mites .

This is the very last way I would like to discover mites in my chickens!

Your chickens need a wood ash dust to dust bath in and the roost needs to be washed down with Lye water .

Would the ash from Pellet stoves and Pellet smokers work as well?
