Cayuga Angel Wing

@CayugaJana if it is not angel wing, wrapping or using a sock will not harm the duck... not wrapping it when it is angel wing is more detrimental to the ducks ability to use it's wings later in life...

Better to keep it on if not sure, than to leave it off... ;)

And brilliant idea with the sock... I have seen pantyhose used similarly, lol...

Look....I have had many that grow out flight feathers in the same rapid way....Not Angel wing.....Ducks do not commonly get the condition .....Geese can get it.....
If you simply Google the question "can ducks get angel wing" you will see that they can an often do and that the development of angel wing in all aquatic fowl is not all that uncommon.

Not sure as to why my replies upset other members other than the fact that I do know what I'm posting?....I'm no idiot who posts without knowledge on the topic in question..Sorry if I step on certain toes, but I am helpful and appreciate to be respected as a helper right along with you...Sorry...I get stressed always being second guessed ...

Did you know there are studies that say:
  • Angel wing occurs more in males than females
  • Usually in left wing, or both wings, but rarely just the right wing.
  • Less common in artic areas, more common in temperate areas.
So here is a male duck, with a turned out left wing. I don't know where the OP lives, but I'm gonna guess it's not far north as Alberta. :)

Let me ask you this... How many duckling or goslings with angel wing have you seen personally? If you've never seen it before, how can you be so sure that the duck here doesn't have it?

We're all trying to help, but I'm afraid that if this wing is not treated that it could end up with a deformed wing.

Yes....Have seen it in Geese only and told my friend to treat the condition....Sold Call Ducklings that mature fast in flight feathers with zero Angel wing if left to grow out and some were really held out and I knew it was not an issue....The issue is caused from a weak elbow joint so the wing will drop down and to the side...Please....I know my stuff and only try to help..I am sad because I get a bad rap on what I know....

My thoughts exactly. And he is the sweetest guy, so we just slip it on at night and he snuggles in for bed. I know it's what's best for the little guy. And the wings are looking a lot better which is proof that it's working for us anyways.
