We have one male and one female Cayauga that need re-homing. They were dumped in the retention pond behind our home. The female just started laying in February, so they are about 11 months old. They are beautiful and healthy. We can't keep them because Town of Cary only allows 5 backyard chickens and no ducks in our zoning district (we're working on changing this!). Thanks for reading!

The Urban Chicken in Raleigh has a monthly flock swap in front of their store. The next swap is Sat, March 21 from 9-3. Maybe try there...

Hope you find a good home for your rescues!

I'm only trying to help, so please know that I don't mean any ill will. It may be helpful to readers to change the title to "Rehoming A Pair of Cayuga Ducks" or "a young pair of Cayugas", etc. Just so anyone will know that it's a Drake and a duck. I got really excited but I definitely don't need any more drakes. I've got to send my drakes to their new home soon and it's breaking my heart. Wishing you all the best with finding them a home. I know a few people that I'm going to share this with. I am always amazed at how many folks have ducks around me. The feed store constantly runs out of duck feed so I asked them and they told me that a lot of folks have them. Who knew

Thank you! I don't know the proper duck vernacular yet! I will change the title of my post.

Six ducks total were dumped, but these were the only two we were able to catch and rescue, and yes, they are a duck and drake. My husband's family had chickens growing up, and I grew up behind a farm with chickens, so we both wanted to save them. My husband was pretty upset that he wasn't able to save the other 4- we have a lot of foxes around. But we tried....

Thanks for helping!

You're awesome for helping them and trying to help the others. Sadly most people wouldn't even bother. I am about an hour away from Cary and the foxes are very active here as well. We hear their scream/call over and over and over many nights and can tell they are close by. One ran past me in my yard a couple of nights ago. Two nights later, one tried to dig into my "baby" flock's coop (not necessarily babies any more since they're going on 7 months old). The tracks were so clear. I hope they move on very soon and leave all of our animals alone.
